February 27, conference EA 1290

Tuesday’s web conference was helpful in many different ways.  Dr. Abernathy stated that this meeting would be a short meeting because of another web conference she had with the instructional associates.  Initially we had about five minutes of speaker/headphone problems, once that got figured out the conference was very insightful.  The main topic of conversation was centered on the blog itself.  Many students were clueless and in the dark on the entire blog issue.  Fortunately a few of us had created our blog in the action research class and we are able to use our original blog (this is my case).  A few questions still did not get answered; do we post every single assignment for this course in our blog, or just over-all reflections?  It is good to know that the same questions that I have others have as well; of course the tk20 conjured up a few questions.  I don’t believe that I have been on a web conference yet where tk20 was not mentioned a few times.  It was stressed by Dr. Abernathy the instructional associates and the course professors are always here to help, this shows in multiple ways, they even offer their phone numbers/cell out to the students.  I have never called and I don’t plan on it, but it is nice to know that the staff and leaders of the course are there and ready to help when we/students need them.  This goes far and helps establish a good connection with the staff/students in my opinion.  The conference although it was short, it accomplished and covered much, overall very helpful.

Tardy policies from other schools

Over the past few weeks I have been communicating with other schools concerning their tardy policy.  Each one is different unique to their own school.  The majority of the schools I talk to have a successful tardy policy and all have taken advantage of Saturday school.  I am not sure if our school would give this idea a green light.  I plan on talking to my administrator about the issue.
